Much of Toby’s childhood was spent in the hills of India, traveling with his missionary parents. He had always loved nature and art, and was especially fond of how artisans in rural areas created amazing jewelry using rudimentary tools. He initially went to college as a pre-med student, but a chance encounter with a jewelry making class changed his career path forever. He left school to become a full-time jewelry designer, and his passion was to create thoughtful jewelry that didn’t contribute to the environmental impact of heavy-equipment mining so prevalent in the world today. All of Toby’s design are proudly made from metals that are sourced from eco-friendly recycling facilities. Even the diamonds and gems incorporated into his pieces are from conflict-free regions and people that are collecting the gems from natural sources like rivers and streams.
